REPAIRING EPSON PRINTERS - IN and OUT of WARRANTY

We have about 40 Epson printers here at the Cone Editions Press studio, and that number is climbing. We use them in our R&D group trying out many different inksets, and we use them in our workshops where paying customers sit down and print with them. It is imperative that they work well.

We were pretty disgusted when our local repair shop forced us to supply about $240 worth of Epson ink to repair an Epson 3000 that had a grinding sound when the print head traveled too far to the left. Apparently they didn't stock ink and were not going to. They also didn't have any large paper - and 17 inch wide paper was needed to discover the problem when the printhead moved all the way across the machine.

We have heard similar horror stories from our users in the past years, and we are always asked if we know of any repair shops that will do a good job - "IN" -or- "OUT" of warranty, that will not freak out if the printer has used non-Epson inks.

I intend to collect here a list of repair shops that are "Piezography Friendly". If you know of any feel free to let me know.

I have talked to Ron Ardito and this is where we will be sending our printers. They have the Piezography BW software and are genuinely interested in doing a good job repairing and aligning the printers. How refreshing!!!

Normally they charge $25 to open up the machine and give an estimate on what the repair will be. Mention that you are an Inkjetmall customer and they will waive this fee.
