Black ink change?

Hi, so i have a epson 4800 that has seen very little use, i have done a flush, changed dampers and down done another flush with 2 power cleans.

I have K7 using matt black and also gloss over print bottle.

I have read the manual which says i should do swap ink routine, though i understand this uses a lot of ink?

Will i still have to do this even though i have flushed old inks out?

Is there a way to do with using lots of ink?

thanks

Hi bubblecatcher~

You can set up your 4800 as Piezography 2 to be able to print matte and gloss without changing inks.
To do this, you will need to install GO in the LLK channel, and gloss shade #1 in the yellow channel (matte shade #1 in the black channel, and all other shades in their normal positions, no shade #7). You will need to use “P2” specific matte and gloss curves, which are designed for this specific ink setup.

Best regards and happy printing~ Dana

Hi and thanks for reply.

I can indeed do that, but then i will no longer have the full Carbon K7 ink set range.

Would i still get the same quality of tonal range doing the P2 setup?

One option if you want to stick to K7 and print both gloss and matte is to use a universal black:

Dana - I’ve been meaning to ask when the numbers in that thread might be finalised. I realise that there have been holidays, illness and general busyness, so I wasn’t pushing.

Hi Bubblecatcher~ Yes, you will get the same quality and tonal range with P2 as you do with K7, because we designed the curves to produce the same output.
