Service call error 1400

This started after I pulled the carts to shake them up a bit. I did notice that the IJM refillables were somewhat more difficult to pull out than the OEM’s and that there’s some play between the two halfs of the cart assembly.

What a pia, printer to paper weight.

Help? Suggestions?

Sorry. I saw this as a 3880 at first (email inbox crossing)

Are you using the Keys and Capsules?

We are in the process of re-designing these carts. (totally new design for the industry btw).

Does your Epson utility show the error #?

Thanks, Walker, the problem is that the printer is useless until the error is cleared or the printer gets fixed.

The “play” I wrote about is between the two halves of the cartridge itself. It has nothing to do with the chip.

Again, are you using Keys and Capsules or the normal refillable carts?

Do you have an error number that the printer is throwing you?

Does the error go away after putting OEMs in?

If so have you narrowed this error to 1 cartridge or all of them?

We can replace any cartridge that is defective asap.

Otherwise there may be liquid on the sensor contact (wires) of the printer and those wires may need replacement (each sensor wire array is about $1.50 and easily pulled out and replaced.)

best,
Walker

->Refillable

Do you have an error number that the printer is throwing you?

-> 1400

Does the error go away after putting OEMs in?

-> I no longer have the OEM’s in question

If so have you narrowed this error to 1 cartridge or all of them?

-> Don’t know how I would do this.

We can replace any cartridge that is defective asap.

-> There’s a very small space between the two halves that I can squeeze together. Seems to be in all the IJM carts, but I can’t say whether or not this is a defect. They were all working fine up to a little while ago.

Otherwise there may be liquid on the sensor contact (wires) of the printer and those wires may need replacement (each sensor wire array is about $1.50 and easily pulled out and replaced.)

-> How can I check this or where to look?

Thanks again. You guys de best!

Update:

Turned printer off.
Removed all carts.
Started printer & got the expected Insert Carts message.
Installed the carts and … I successfully printed a 3 page job! No error message.
Turned printer off
Restarted w/o error.

Make sure you top your carts off. They probably reset so a few may be low.

best,
Walker
